Large waves can sweepacross the beach without warning, pulling people into the seafrom rocks, jetties and beaches. Sudden immersion in cold watercan result in cold water shock even for the most experiencedswimmers. Cold water shock can result in dramatic changes inbreathing, heart rate and blood pressure, greatly increasing therisk of drowning in rough open waters.Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due todangerous surf conditions.
